- Provide education, awareness, and answers to troubling questions and;
- Provide comfort and support through education and information and perhaps a glimmer of hope for those diagnosed with MS and their families. Since that time, Kym is a dedicated mother, employee, who has been dedicated and committed to increasing awareness and educating others affected with MS.
- Provide education and promote awareness about the effects of MS, its care and treatment; and its effect on the quality of life, particularly for African-Americans and other minorities. Produce workshops, seminars and other educational programs on MS including, but not limited to, new medical treatments and medication, employment, wellness, alternative therapies, exercise and diet, family relationships, and legal matters.

Since its inception, the KSF has provided a variety of educational and supportive activities that include: Raising funds to support educational activities. Increasing the capacity for African-Americans and other minorities to participate in appropriate educational initiatives regarding MS. Providing support and education to individuals affected by MS. Increasing awareness and access to services for minorities, specifically African-Americans. providing relevant information for future development of a MS registry.
The KSF is favorably positioned to implement a comprehensive awareness and education program because of the expertise that comes from within the organization, as well as the value, the KSF has already demonstrated in the community. Founder, Kym Sellers, has overall responsibility for managing most of the aspects of the project. She was diagnosed with MS in 1992 and has used her professional career as a radio personality to educate and heighten the awareness about MS. This has resulted in numerous requests for speaking engagements, education forums and partnerships within the community.
The KSF has leveraged its value to the community by collaborating with other health care and professional organizations in order to enhance awareness and promote other educational programs. Kym Sellers and Dr. Daisy L. Alford-Smith have served as members on the National MS Society Board of Directors in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, The KSF representatives frequently speak and provide educational messages on MS to a variety of audiences. The KSF has also worked with the Cleveland Clinic Mellen Center, the Akron General Wellness Center, the National MS Society, and the Cleveland Council of Black Nurses, to name a few, which has laid the groundwork for further partnerships. In any case, The KSF has been able to bring an untapped reserve of individuals, particularly African-Americans, to the forefront as an audience for education.
