Neighbors Make The Difference® is one way we contribute and give back to the community. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 marks the 21st anniversary of this project. The first Neighbors Day activity took place in Alaska, and began as a day spent in a variety of community service projects, such as visiting hospital patients; painting homes and cleaning up yards for people who could not do so; and wrapping holiday presents for children who would receive them at the Salvation Army later in the year.
Senior management, managers and staff come together in groups, support Key’s volunteer spirit and go to work as community servants. By volunteering, employees become aware that they are part of a company that believes strongly in the importance of community and see first-hand the positive impact of Key’s activities in the places where we live, work and conduct business.
In major cities and smaller towns across America, our employees are involved, giving generously of their time and talent. Throughout Key, you will find employees dedicated to helping others through a wide-range of activities including those that support Key’s strategy to emphasize economic self-sufficiency through financial education and workforce development. Our employees take pride in their service as trustees, directors and advisors to the boards of community organizations. Our employees are also active community servants. Our employees are found lending a hand in a variety of ways, including:
- Participating in landscaping, clean-ups, and community development
- Assembling playground equipment
- Coordinating collection drives for local charitable causes
- Reading to, tutoring and mentoring children
- Assisting senior citizens
- Packaging food at local foodbanks
- Providing much needed office work
- Financial education and career development activities
